The HSE/QA Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the health, safety, environmental, and quality assurance programs within the organization. They ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards, and drive continuous improvement in the company's HSE and quality performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Health, Safety, and Environment:
- Conduct risk assessments and develop appropriate control measures to mitigate health, safety, and environmental risks
- Implement and maintain HSE management systems, policies, and procedures
- Perform HSE inspections and audits to identify issues and areas for improvement
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and recommend corrective actions
- Provide HSE training and awareness programs for employees
- Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics and KPIs
- Stay abreast of changes in HSE legislation and industry best practices
Quality Assurance:
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems and processes
- Conduct quality audits and inspections to ensure compliance with standards and specifications
- Investigate quality-related incidents and nonconformances, and implement corrective actions
- Liaise with internal departments and external customers/suppliers on quality-related matters
- Analyze quality data and trends, and make recommendations for quality improvements
- Provide guidance and training to employees on quality assurance procedures
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineer, quality management)
- Professional certification in HSE and/or quality assurance (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH, ASQ)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an HSE and/or quality assurance role
- Thorough understanding of applicable HSE and quality regulations, standards, and best practices
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management abilities
- Proficient in using quality management software and data analysis tools
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
