As a Quantity Surveyor at our contracting company, you’ll be a key player in managing project costs, ensuring efficient resource utilization, and maintaining high standards of quality. Your role directly impacts project success, financial outcomes, and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects, considering materials, labor, equipment, and other relevant factors.
Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenses throughout the project lifecycle.
Quantity Takeoff and Measurement:
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from architectural and engineering drawings.
Calculate quantities of materials needed (e.g., concrete, steel, finishes) and create comprehensive bills of quantities (BOQs).
Tendering and Bidding:
Participate in the tendering process by analyzing bid documents, understanding project requirements, and preparing competitive bids.
Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to create compelling proposals.
Contract Administration:
Administer contracts, including variations, claims, and payments.
Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
Value Engineering:
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
Propose alternative materials or construction methods to optimize project value.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
Evaluate project risks related to cost, schedule, and quality.
Implement risk mitigation strategies.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Communicate effectively to resolve issues and maintain positive relationships.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quantity surveying, cost estimation, and project management within the construction industry.
Hard Skills:
Proficiency in cost estimation software's.
Knowledge of construction materials and methods.
Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
Attention to detail and analytical thinking.
Teamwork and collaboration.
