The Planning Manager responsibility for determining the production capacity needed by an
organization to meet changing demands for its products. Understands how the business operates and plans for future capacity requirements. Undertakes planning activities to ensure targets are met and optimizes manufacturing/ productivity efficiency, restructuring the performance and productivity with optimized resources and costs. Holds people and budgetary management responsibility.
1 Manages the development of strategies, policies and objectives for the Planning Department in accordance with AACC’s overall strategic plan.
2 Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of
subordinate employees.
3 Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques. Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained.
Establishes program framework and guidelines and determines study priorities and emphasis.
4 Ensures proper labor relations and conditions of employment are maintained.
Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence relative to the work
5 Develops procedures for the identification, study, and proposal of recommendations pertaining to state resource opportunities and problems.
Directs the collection of field data and information on local conditions for use in planning studies
6 Evaluates technical recommendations made by staff; formulates proposals for committee discussion; reports resulting recommendations to the planning/Projects’ director..
7 Directs the finalization of the detailed schedules for new projects, and participates in the final decision of concerned project proposal.
8 Creates schedules of technical deliverables in accordance to the project baseline schedules.
9 Participates in reviewing and approving the detailed construction schedule of the project.
10 Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice capacity planning vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
11 Lead capacity planning activities ensuring delivery against operational requirements and which optimize manufacturing efficiency and costs
12 Refine systems and methods to continually improve plans so that the organization can better anticipate Client needs. Assess existing capacity and develop operational plans and forecasts based on future plans for demand
13 Producing the high level, detailed WBS with the required histograms for Manpower engagement, resource engagement, Equipment plans, Project financial forecast plans
14 Monitor key manufacturing processes for capacity and demand, identify capacity constraints and provide analysis
15 Annalise specifications and capacity and undertake appropriate calculations to estimate job requirements in terms of labor, tools, materials and resources
16 Work with the Discipline Head to agree technical resource required, and forecast and
manage resource costs throughout the project
17 Analyzes the client’s documents to ensure the responses being created respond implicitly to the questions being asked.
18 Ensure that the right tools and processes are in place to deliver effective capacity planning and performance monitoring across the organization
19 Prepares periodic reports with respect to the Project activities and achievements to be submitted to the Operations Director.
20 Review data and trends and diagnose problems and concerns. Identify and drive improvement initiatives that optimize capacity and ensure best return on investment without adding risk or disruption. Utilize knowledge and research methods to benchmark capacity planning activities and to drive best practice results
21 Manage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives, delivers best practice results and works to make continuous improvements.
22 Set department objectives/KPIs and review ways in which to enhance the performance of the capacity planning department and add value
23 Input and hold responsibility for Capacity Planning budgets
24 Collaborate with internal stakeholders to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for planning purposes to meet operational requirements
25 Regularly communicate plans and forecasts to internal stakeholders and review plans to ensure efficient resource utilization
26 Performs other roles and duties as may be reasonably required by the Operations Director and related to the nature of the job.
27 Co-ordinate cross functional activities to reconcile variances from original plans and maintain a view of actual against forecast projections
28 Preparing budgets and overseeing the financial administration of planning projects.
29 Attend production meetings, and where required chair design meetings. Keep track of all scope changes and ensure that the change control process and planning process are adhered to and communicated fully on all projects. Take the lead in driving a culture of continuous improvement within the planning and forecasting strategy
30 Nominates a deputy to carry out the responsibilities of the position in case of his/her absence whenever the need arises.
