Planning Engineer - Mechanical responsible for creating, implementing, and monitoring project plans for mechanical engineering projects. They work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. ?
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning:
Develop comprehensive project plans, including work breakdown structures (WBS), schedules, resource allocation, and cost estimates.
Identify critical path activities and potential risks to project timelines.
Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks and address challenges.
Schedule Management:
Create and maintain detailed project schedules using project management software.
Monitor project progress against the schedule and identify any deviations.
Implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.
Resource Allocation:
Allocate resources (personnel, equipment, materials) effectively to support project goals.
Optimize resource utilization to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
Cost Management:
Develop and track project budgets.
Monitor costs against the budget and identify potential cost overruns.
Implement cost-saving measures to stay within budget.
Risk Management:
Identify and assess project risks.
Develop mitigation strategies to address potential risks.
Monitor and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle.
Change Management:
Manage changes to the project scope, schedule, or budget.
Assess the impact of changes on project goals and implement necessary adjustments.
Reporting:
Prepare regular project status reports for stakeholders.
Provide accurate and timely information on project progress, risks, and issues.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering project planning and management
Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, Lean)
Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6)
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Desired Qualifications
PMP certification
Experience with specific mechanical engineering systems or technologies
Knowledge of industry standards and regulations
