Job description

The Civil Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and managing civil construction activities on-site, ensuring that work is completed according to specifications, timelines, and quality standards. The role involves coordinating with contractors, laborers, and engineers to ensure the smooth execution of civil construction projects, including buildings, roads, utilities, and other infrastructure. The Civil Supervisor will report directly to the Project Manager or Senior Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supervision of Civil Works:

- Supervise daily civil works on-site, including the execution of construction activities related to foundations, structural elements, roads, drainage systems, etc.

- Ensure the quality of work meets project specifications and standards.

- Monitor the work schedule and provide regular updates on progress.

2. Site Management:

- Manage and coordinate on-site teams, including workers, subcontractors, and suppliers.

- Implement health and safety measures to ensure a safe working environment.

- Enforce adherence to safety protocols, local regulations, and environmental guidelines.

3. Quality Control:

- Inspect and monitor work to ensure compliance with design specifications, drawings, and construction standards.

- Conduct regular quality checks and tests on materials and workmanship.

- Resolve any issues that arise during construction, ensuring minimal disruption to progress.

4. Coordination with Stakeholders:

- Coordinate with the Project Manager, Engineers, and other site supervisors to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.

- Liaise with the client and other external stakeholders, such as government authorities, to ensure compliance with regulations and approval processes.

5. Material Management:

- Monitor material usage on-site to ensure efficient use and avoid wastage.

- Ensure timely delivery of construction materials and other resources to the site.

- Keep track of inventory and materials, ensuring that stock levels are appropriate for project needs.

6. Reporting:

- Prepare regular progress reports, detailing work completed, upcoming tasks, issues encountered, and any changes to the project scope.

- Submit daily and weekly reports to the Project Manager regarding site activities, safety performance, and any incidents.

7. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:

- Identify and address potential construction issues, delays, or obstacles.

- Provide technical solutions to any challenges faced during construction.

8. Documentation and Compliance:

- Maintain proper records of work completed, including daily logs, labor reports, and inspection reports.

- Ensure all construction activities are in compliance with local building codes and regulatory requirements.

Skills and Competencies:

- Strong leadership and team management skills.

- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, materials, and quality control.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions on-site.

- Good communication skills in English (Arabic is a plus).

- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

- Proficiency in using construction management software (e.g., Procore, Aconex, or MS Project).

Qualifications:

- A Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or related field (preferred).

- Minimum 5 years of experience in civil construction supervision, preferably in large infrastructure projects (buildings, roads, bridges, etc.).

- Experience in managing a team and coordinating with various stakeholders.
