Senior Electrical Engineer – Oil & Gas Projects (Jubail, Saudi Arabia)

Job Overview:

We are hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to support multiple high-value oil and gas and petrochemical projects at Sadara facilities in Jubail. The position involves in-depth participation across all engineering stages — from FEED reviews, detailed design, to infrastructure and cable projects involving voltages from 230kV down to 110V. This role demands strong engineering design expertise, knowledge of international standards, and hands-on experience in hazardous area installations, ETAP-based power studies, and relay protection systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Category 1: KBR FEED Review – Voltage Conversion (110V to 230V)

Review FEED and Detailed Design Engineering for the 230V system rollout across all Sadara plants.

Evaluate 480V system impact and upstream interfaces.

Ensure design compliance with NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 497, ANSI/IEEE, IEC, and Sadara standards.

Validate electrical sizing, cable schedules, MCC/transformer/panel specifications.

Assess material take-offs, mitigation plans, and provide structured review reports.

Coordinate review milestones (60%, 90%, 100%, and Cost Estimates).

Category 2: 230KVA Cable Project

Provide design and engineering for systems from 230kV/34.5kV to 110V.

Prepare and review GIS switchgear, MCCs, MV/LV motors, VSDs, transformers, protection relays, lighting, and heat tracing.

Perform and manage power system studies using ETAP (Load Flow, Short Circuit, Coordination, Grounding, Arc Flash).

Experience in Siemens, SEL, and GE protection relays – design and testing.

Troubleshoot complex electrical issues and recommend preventive actions.

Category 3: Misc. Works / RC Support

Lead FEED and detailed engineering on large-to-mega projects and running plant facilities.

Conduct grounding, lighting, illumination, and cable raceway studies.

Review and approve heat tracing, HACD, interconnection, layout, and section detail drawings.

Create and validate equipment specifications and material requisitions (MRs).

Approve vendor documents, conduct bid evaluations, and support construction/commissioning teams.

Prepare as-built drawings and resolve design-related field issues.

Category 4: Infra & ISO Projects

Design and review power distribution systems (230kV/34.5kV/13.8kV/4.16kV/480V to 400V).

Perform ETAP-based system modeling and studies.

Coordinate across disciplines to ensure constructability, operability, and maintainability.

Read and interpret P&IDs for integration into electrical design documents.

Support project scope finalization, work estimation, and resource forecasting.

Key Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

Experience: Minimum of 15 years in EPC, petrochemical, refinery, or oil & gas sectors.

Proven experience in both greenfield and brownfield project environments.

Deep understanding of international standards: NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 497, ANSI/IEEE, IEC.

Proficient in ETAP for system studies and protection coordination.

Strong background in relay design/testing (Siemens, SEL, GE).

Experience with hazardous area installations.

Solid understanding of project scope development, cost estimation, and material take-offs.
