QC Inspector Job description
A QC Inspector in a machine shop ensures parts meet quality standards through inspection, documentation, and collaboration with production. They verify dimensions, features, and overall quality against specifications, report discrepancies, and assist in identifying and resolving issues.
Key Responsibilities:
• Inspection and Measurement:
Perform thorough inspections of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products using various measuring tools.
• Documentation:
Accurately record inspection results, including measurements and any discrepancies, in inspection reports and quality records.
• Compliance:
Ensure parts adhere to blueprints, specifications, and quality standards.
• Non-Conformance Reporting:
Identify and document non-conformances, raising Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and following up on their resolution.
• Collaboration:
Work closely with the production team to address quality issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Calibration:
Maintain and calibrate measuring instruments, ensuring their accuracy and reliability.
• Continuous Improvement:
Participate in activities to improve quality processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to enhance quality.
• Documentation and Records:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inspections, calibrations, and quality-related correspondence.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Blueprint Reading: Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Measuring Tools: Proficiency in using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and analyze quality issues and recommend solutions.
• Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with production teams and document findings.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and maintain accurate records.
• Quality Control Knowledge: Understanding of quality control principles, procedures, and standards.
